Hi! I’m Taylor Dooley. Welcome! We put together this site to keep you updated on what‘s going on in my life and acting career! I hope you enjoy looking around!

One of the questions I get asked most is: How did I get started in the acting business? ♥ So I thought I’d give you the scoop on what I did before I was blessed with the opportunity to play “Lava Girl” in a film directed by Robert Rodriguez!

My parents say I was always putting on some kind of show for the family, so it didn’t surprise them when I asked them to sign me up for a summer acting camp at the “Phoenix Theater”. It was an all day, five week camp, and it was so much fun! When the camp was over I tried out for the “Phoenix Theater’s Performance Troop” and made it! With the theater group, we would study dramatic acting mixed with comedic skits and we even got to write some of the skits ourselves, then we would travel around performing for local schools and theaters. It was such a blast, I learned a lot, and I fell in love with acting!

It wasn’t long after that, I caught the attention of an L.A. agent and my mom and I were heading out to Los Angeles for our first “Pilot Season”. We didn’t have a clue what we were getting into and I think if my mom would have had any idea how much that trip was going to change my life (and our families), I’m not sure she would have said “yes”? I went out on tons of commercial auditions and after about 4 weeks I landed my first national commercial for “Famous Footwear”. It actually filmed on my 10th birthday and it was so much fun! We headed home 2 weeks after that, and my mom says “it was like someone took the wind out of my sails”.

Back home I continued to study with the theater group, did a lot of modeling for both “Dillard’s and “Robinson Mays” and got to be a part of the “Discovery Girls Magazine” Phoenix/Arizona issue. I was so excited when I found out that I got the cover of DGM and they also asked me to write a feature article for the magazine about the “The Down Side of Auditioning”! But the truth is no matter what I did in Arizona, all I could think about was getting back to L.A., to start auditioning again.

The next spring we headed back out for “Pilot Season”. This time we had a new management team that was able to get me out on theatrical auditions (for Movies & TV) also. I just love auditioning theatrically because for me it is a chance to act. Within a few weeks I got two more national commercials for “Disney’s Superstar Kids 2” and the “Honda Odyssey” and I also modeled for an international “Mary Kate and Ashley” clothing campaign. I was having a blast! My dad would fly out on the weekends to visit us and I started begging him to please consider moving to California. It was a hard sell at first, but thank God my parents are very supportive and with in a few months my dad actually got a job promotion to relocate to sunny California. What a blessing that was!

We had only been living in California for one month when I went on my first audition for the part of Lava Girl in “The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl”. I ended up auditioning four times and the last audition was what they call a “mix and match”. That is where they have you do scenes with other kids they are considering for other parts in the movie. It was so awesome just to be able to really get into my character with both Cayden Boyd “Max” and Taylor Lautner “Shark Boy” playing their parts also! I was on cloud nine all the way home because that audition was so much fun! Later that night I got a call from my managers saying I got the part of “Lava Girl”! I think I cried myself to sleep that night; I was so happy and very thankful to God for the wonderful opportunity.

Since then I played “Dana Ackerman” in National Lampoons “Trick or Treat” which is now out on DVD and I've played the lead role in two other independent films. Right now I'm living in Los Angeles, working hard on both school and acting, and I'm auditioning as much as I can hoping my next project is just around the corner! I absolutely love acting and I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love so much! I hope that I can continue acting and I pray that I will get the chance do some more serious roles in the future. My dream is to grow into an amazing actress like Natalie Portman, Kate Winslet, or Charlize Theron and someday earn an Academy Award!
